Philosophy is the science of natural entities and aimed at investigating true nature, The theory is advanced by one’s opinion about general principles or guidelines on which to base a science, then the law is all the rules, both written and unwritten created or recognized by the state to guide people’s behavior who has a firm and real sanctions for those who break them. So legal theory according to philosophy law, is a theory that consists of a set of legal principles which serve as guidelines in formulating a legal product, so the law can be implemented in the practice of community life.

What is the benefit in studying philosophy law? Due to legal philosophy have four properties that differentiate it from other sciences, specifically: First, philosophy has characteristics that are comprehensive. With a holistic way of thinking, then everyone who is studying the philosophy law are invited to have a broad-minded. They are invited to appreciate the thoughts, opinions, and convictions of others.

Second, the philosophy law also has a fundamental nature. That is in analyzing a problem, we are invited to think critically and radically. Third, the nature of the speculative philosophy which invites studying philosophy law for innovative thinking that is always looking for something new. Fourth, the reflective nature of critical philosophy which is useful for guiding us to analyze the legal issues rationally.

Philosophy law studied law in a speculative and critical way, meaning that legal philosophy seeks to examine the value of the statements that can be categorized as a law;

Finally, philosophy law in addressing the problem, we are invited to think critically and radically, or in the sense that we are invited to see the law not merely in the sense of positive law, because if we only learn the meaning of the law in a purely positive sense, we will not be able to utilize and well-developed legal.
